TÜRKONFED Paid its Respects to Atatürk’s Memory at its 17th Anniversary
The Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED), which includes more than 50,000 companies over 30 federations and 284 associations, held its extended board meeting in Ankara, attended by the board of directors, high advisory board and federation presidents. Founded in 2004 and celebrating its 17th anniversary this year, TÜRKONFED paid a visit to Anıtkabir with its Extended Board of Directors. The delegation, led by TÜRKONFED President Orhan Turan, laid a wreath at Atatürk's mausoleum and observed a moment of silence, followed by the Turkish National Anthem ceremony. Turan wrote the following in the Special Notebook of Anıtkabir:
“Great Leader Atatürk, as TÜRKONFED, which is represented across the country and consists of businesspeople who came together independently and voluntarily, we are honored to be in your presence with our Extended Board of Directors on the 17th anniversary of our foundation.
As business people raised and educated thanks to our Republic, which was founded under difficult conditions and whose 100th anniversary will be celebrated very soon, we understand the importance of the reason- and science-based values and principles of our Republic that you have bestowed upon us.
We would like to share the ‘Turkey of our Dreams’ vision we created to lead the way for our society on our journey for embracing a common vision - in world-changing conditions - with shared emotions and excitement to realize your goal of turning our country into a modern civilization. Under your guiding light, we dream of a Turkey which
- has a stronger democratic, secular and social state adhering to the rule of law,
- has established separation of powers, balance and control mechanisms,
- has a fully independent judiciary system and established rule of law,
- created a will to live together and a strong social transformation based on social wellbeing,
- has a new and civil constitution for a new period, based on social and political compromises,
- became a full member of the European Union,
- developed policies for gender equality,
- guaranteed the welfare and harmony of society and the right to a dignified life;
- successfully fought against injustice and poverty.
We commemorate you, the savior and founder of our country, the architect of our common values, with respect, love and gratitude. We bow respectfully before the cherished memories of you and the founding fathers of our Republic. Rest in peace. With our sincere respect and gratitude...”
