TURKONFED’s Regional Representatives Meet in Istanbul with Regional Business Networks Project

Aiming to improve the capacity of TÜRKONFED member federations and raise the awareness of civil society, the promotion meeting of the Regional Business Networks Project brought the federation general secretaries together in Istanbul. 25 representatives from 23 regions attended the TÜRKONFED 4th Federation Secretaries General Meeting hosted by the Project and received two days of comprehensive training. 

The Federation General Secretaries Meeting organized by TÜRKONFED since 2015 was held in Istanbul on September 24-25 and hosted by the Regional Business Networks (RBN) Project in 2021. TÜRKONFED Vice President Serpil Veral also attended the meeting where the RBN Project implemented under the direction of TÜRKONFED as part of Phase 3 of the European Union Civil Society Support Program was also promoted.

Capacity will be developed with comprehensive training content

The general secretaries of the TÜRKONFED’s member federations and the members of the board of directors assigned by the federations also participated in the training program prepared by the RBN Project. Comprehensive educational content was provided to the participants.

Information was provided on “local development, local stakeholder management, non-governmental organization management, volunteer management, resource development, management of relationships with society, government and resource providers, project creation and writing techniques, impact monitoring and evaluation, communication and advocacy strategies” during these two days of training.

TÜRKONFED General Secretaries Meeting also ensured the promotion of the regional workshops of the RBN Project. The workshops to be hosted by TÜRKONFED member federations TRAKYASİFED (Tekirdağ), MEVLANASİFED (Konya), DASİFED (Hatay), DOGUSİFED (Van) and İPEKYOLUSİFED (Erzurum) selected as the pilot regions for the 12-month project will contribute to building the capacity of civil society and increase cooperations in Anatolia.

What is RBN?

 The Regional Business Networks Project implemented under the direction of TÜRKONFED within the scope of the Phase 3 of the European Union Civil Society Support Program aims for Developing a comprehensive program to increase the institutional capacities and project development skills of 30 federations under the umbrella of TÜRKONFED, raising awareness about federations and their roles by creating projects for regional development, development of a training program for full-time personnel of member federations to improve their professional knowledge, competencies and cooperation within the network and creating a digital platform where all TÜRKONFED member federations, associations and members can connect with each other.
