TÜRKONFED - Corporate Social Responsibility Summit

As part of the EU-funded "Mainstreaming Corporate Social Responsibility Among SME’s” project within the Civil Society Dialogue Program, TÜRKONFED organised on September 1st 2016 the 'Corporate Social Responsibility Summit' in Istanbul. The event brought together civil society and SME representatives aiming to start and enhance corporate social responsibility practices for their businesses and organisations.

The opening remarks at the summit were delived by TÜRKONFED President Tarkan Kadooğlu, Ministry of EU Affairs Project Implementation Director Bülent Özcan and Dutch Consul General in Istanbul Robert Schuddeboom. Mr. Kadooğlu talked about TÜRKONFED's previous projects on corporate social responsibility and the need to institutionalise the culture of 'giving back' that is widespead in Turkish society.

In the two panels within the panel, high level representatives from the private sector and civil society discussed the ways SMEs can incorporate socially responsible practices into their businesses and how civil society and the government can support and raise awareness on corporate social responsibility.
